Thank you for visiting the Tritt Family Research, Inc. website! Since 1977, Tritt Family Research, Inc. has been dedicated to researching and documenting the story of the Tritt family, which includes the name variations Tritten, Dritt, Trait, Trate, and Treat. As a genealogical organization, we prioritize the search for and the use of original documentation in order to tell our family’s story. Our research efforts have traced our lineage to a shared Tritt ancestor, Jacob Tritten (1562-1634), who was born in St. Stephan, Canton Bern, Switzerland, and to his descendants throughout Europe, the United States, and beyond.
Our findings have resulted in a series of volumes that are well documented and present an authenticated history of the Tritt family from as early a time as possible. The following volumes are currently in publication:
– Volume I: Ancestry, life and times of brothers Hans Peter and Christian Tritt, immigrants to Pennsylvania in 1739, and their children
– Volume II: Johann Paul Tritt, born 1752 in York County, Pennsylvania, and his descendants
– Volume III: Christian Tritt, immigrant to Pennsylvania in 1739, his son Henry Tritt, born 1742, and their descendants
– Volume IV: Joseph Tritt, born 1786 in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania and settled in Stark and Summit Counties, Ohio, and his descendants
– Volume V: Tritten / Tritt Progenitor Jacob Tritten (1562-1634) St. Stephan, Canton Bern, Switzerland and eleven descendant generations
Two additional volumes are in development. Volume VI will tell the story of Christian Tritt (1796-1871), who was born and lived in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. This volume will likely be available by August 2024. Volume VII will explore the Dritt line and feature the life of General Jacob Dritt (1746-1817) and his descendants. This volume is in the planning stage.
Tritt Family Research, Inc., is a non-profit organization. We are grateful to the generous patrons and donors who have made the publication of these volumes possible. The five published volumes, as well as other Tritt-related items, can be purchased through our website. You can also access free online versions of our annual Tritt Family Newsletter.
